Carifesta should be a wonderful experience for everyone especially those experiencing it for the first time like me, I was all excited about taking my children to the opening ceremony since they can almost sing the entire team song and recite the motto, seems like even 5 and 6 year olds are excited about their first carifesta, however the manner in which tickets are being distributed is so discouraging and leaves much to be desired. I went to the Theather Gill Play House to uplift my tickets, the line was long, the sun was hot but like most Guyanese it did not matter to me, when I was almost to the front of the line the person distributing tickets there told the crowd that they only have tickets for the grand market and that if we wanted tickets for the other events (opening and closing ceremonies) we would have to go elsewhere. How disappointing, after spending all that time in the line to get tickets for the opening ceremony I could not get them. I however decided to take the tickets for the grand market (I was told that I could only get TWO), I requested tickets for Sunday 24, August and was given RED tickets. I left happily and informed some of my friends to go uplift their tickets there, lo and behold they called me later and informed the they had two tickets each for FIVE days I figured that well I was just unlucky, but to add salt to a wound I sat at home reading the papers and saw the colour guide for the tickets, my RED tickets are for friday 29, August. Well I am so discouraged at this point I will just stay home. I might be among a minority but what if it was not me and it was some overseas guest who wanted to experience carifesta. This does not paint a good picture of Guyana at all. Best luck to Guyana and the Guyanese people in hosting CARIFESTA X. It is shaping up to be a wonderful event.

The Map of Georgetown is not very professionally done and should be replaced with one that does not link to sites that have invectives. The Carifesta site locations should also be highlighted.

BEING GUYANESE AND A CITIZEN OF ST. LUCIA, I JUST WISH I COULD'VE BEEN ABLE TO BE IN MY NATIVE GUYANA AS PART OF THE ST. LUCIAN CONTINGENT. I'M A PERFORMANCE POET AND NEWSPAPER REPORTER, SO MY EDITOR JUST WOULDN'T LET ME OUTTA HERE FOR SUCH A LENGTHY PERIOD.
BUT, FROM THE NEWS REPORTS I'M GETTING OUTTA GUYANA, I'M PROUD TO KNOW THAT GUYANA IS GOING ALL OUT TO ACCOMMODATE THE DELEGATIONS AND MAKE THIS YEAR'S EDITION A MEMORABLE ONE. LOVE YOU, GUYANA!!!!

Really disappointed at the manner in which the tickets are being distributed. arrangemtns should have been put in place to have the police provide some stability and order at the various distributing agencies. Hope this can be put in place for the duration of the festivities.

Carifesta X is good for Guyana, my prayer is that every thing go well, I will send a follow up mail at the end of the events.

This event tells me that our Government and the people of Guyana can do better for Guyana.

It is wonderful to see the Caribbean people putting their house in order collectively, spiritually, socially, culturally, politically and economically; creating a brighter future for our future generations domestically and internationally.

I was excited about Carifesta but disappointed. The ticketing is system is not good, at the place that distributing tickets, people was requesting ticket for certain days and they are giving what they feel to give. It looks bad that people have to line-up for long hours to receive tickets for day they don’t want to go. I guess that a part of our culture that we are show casing to the foreigners.
